New Directions Theatrical Society was founded in July 2008 and our aim from the outset was to build a friendly, welcoming company that produces high quality shows by promoting a fun and inclusive atmosphere that enables its members to achieve their full potential.
We started out with just a few members rehearsing in a small room but in just the first 18 months the company grew to over 80 members. In early 2010 we found our permanent rehearsal venue at The Wesleyan Hall and due to the number of younger members we had gained decided to introduce a Youth Academy to provide our younger members with their own rehearsals and shows.
That year our adults performed their first full scale musical production, which was the first Amateur production in South Wales of Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story and the Youth Academy performed their first show, which was Disney’s Aladdin Junior.
Since then we have continued to go from strength to strength. and have performed a number of musical revue shows and have written and performed two of our own shows, Once Upon A Time and The Treasures Of Broadway, which proved hugely popular with our audiences. We have also continued to perform regular full scale musicals, such as Disney’s High School Musical Junior, The Producers, Disney’s Alice In Wonderland, The Sound of Music and The Wizard of Oz.
We are now looking forward to beginning rehearsals on Tuesday September 2nd 2014 and preparing for auditions for our next shows. We are really excited to announce that the Youth Academy’s next show will be Honk and the Theatrical Society adults will be performing Fame.
We will be holding open auditions for both of these shows so if you enjoy singing, dancing and/or acting and are interested in participating in either of these shows please contact us we would love to hear from you. You can also find further information about auditions on our auditions page
